Ham Rong Mountain
Ham Rong Mountain is a dragon-shaped mountain located right next to the center of Sa Pa town, and is also a famous eco- tourism area of this beautiful Sapa tourist destination . This is one of the few mountains of Vietnam with a beautiful and clear image, associated with an interesting and thrilling legend.
Located right behind Sa Pa stone church, in Hoang Lien Son mountain range, Ham Rong mountain is becoming the most attractive eco-tourism area in Sapa tourist destination . Named Ham Rong because from afar, looking at the location of the mountain, you will see random cliffs lined up like a dragon’s head facing the blue sky.
Many people explain this dragon head legend with a much more romantic and interesting legend. Legend has it that, in the past, this place was the residence of two dragons who loved each other fiercely, entwined with tangerines. Not long after, just when the dragons were playing and making love, they didn’t know that a great flood hit until they were engulfed by a huge rushing water. The dragon struggled strongly and luckily escaped, and the dragon girl, due to more exhaustion, was submerged in the water, could only raise her head to watch the dragon fly to the sky. Over time, the dragon turned to stone, her body became the majestic Hoang Lien Son range and the head part was Ham Rong mountain.
Ham Rong Mountain today has been built to become an attractive eco- tourism area of Sa Pa tourist destination , including 3 main areas: Ham Rong flower garden, Thach Lam rock garden and finally Ham Rong peak. where visitors can zoom their eyes to see the whole Sapa from above.
Ham Rong flower garden is a stopover in the journey of tourists to the top of Ham Rong. The flower garden is designed according to the natural terrain of the mountain, to get here visitors will have to go through a long way of hundreds of stone steps. Every once in a while, the landscape spreads out in front of visitors like a brilliant miniature plain with a variety of flowers, which flower season gives visitors new and different emotions.
Thach Lam rock garden, a unique garden with many strange cliffs, accidentally arranged by nature, but intentionally, made the ancients cleverly imagine the countless claws and feathers of the “dragon”. Walking in the middle of the steep rock forest, visitors will have a mysterious, murky feeling like being lost in a maze, hard to find the exit.
After a journey of 1 km, overcoming a distance that is not easy, visitors will finally reach the top of Ham Rong, also known as San May, which is arranged as an observation hut. Here, visitors can capture in their eyes the entire beautiful town of Sa Pa with indifferent clouds drifting. This is considered the best viewing point of Sapa because at this height, visitors can feel the interference of heaven and earth and leisurely walk in the clouds. Standing on the towering observation hut at a high altitude more than 1800m, breathe in the fresh, cool air and then admire the panorama of Sapa, there is nothing more interesting than that.
If someone has the opportunity to travel to Sa Pa, they will have to regret not being able to set foot on Ham Rong mountain . Standing at the cliff, listening to the story of the mountain legend again, you will feel like you are lost in the world of love, gratitude, and loyalty. Ham Rong Mountain is like the most wonderful picture of nature, grass, wild wind and clouds, making people come to be attached but passersby can’t bear to leave.
