Especially during April to September, the whole region looks like a beautiful picture colored by yellow fields stretching to the horizon. It looks like steps connecting to the sky, leading to the heaven. Grain season is also the time when the village is the noisiest and coziest. Fragrant flavor of rice blends into the wind spreads in space and invites visitors to come and experience the life of the highland people.

Thanks to the majestic charms of terrace rice fields, mountains as well as waterfalls, Lao Chai and Ta Van is an ideal place for trekking activities. The diverse culture

Besides the impressive scenery of nature, a journey to here can give you an exhaustive look at the local cultural beauty. Situated 7km from the center of Sapa Town, Lao Chai village is the common home of more than 100 H’mong households. H’mong people here are experienced at doing paddy cultivation on the lower fields in the valley. They also grow corn, cassava and upland rice on hillsides and mountainside behind the village.

Next to Lao Chai village, Ta Van village is mostly inhabited by about 40 households of Giay minority and some others. Giay people live in a stable settlement such as valley lowlands near the river for wet rice cultivation while H’mong people like living at a high position to grow corn cassava and upland rice. Ta Van village is ideally located between the poetic Muong Hoa stream and the impressive Hoang Lien Son mountain range. Additionally, Ta Van is also the proper spot to connect with other tourist attraction such as Cau May, Ta Phin, the ancient stone region, Silver Waterfall, Giang Ta Chai and so on.
